A commitment to Health, Safety and Environment

Creation of new roles to promote best practice across all sites

With the ever-increasing prominence of HSE in the business environment, we believe its vital to have a consistent approach to these issues across all our group companies in the UK, thus ensuring best practice is followed at all our business units.

Highlighting this commitment, the role of Jamie Holling has been widened from its current remit for BRC Reinforcement, and he has therefore been appointed BRC Group HSE Director. Additionally, we have recently recruited Phil Kelly, who joined us as BRC Group H&S Manager during June.

The extension of Jamie's existing role will see his continued support for BRC Reinforcement, but with additional responsibilities to the group as a whole, reporting directly to the CEO. These responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring an appropriate and harmonised HSE reporting system across group companies in the UK, and that measures are applied consistently.
  • Working with BRC Management, and in conjunction with our insurance brokers, to ensure that appropriate action plans are in place at each site to address HSE issues. This will include appropriate training at all levels.
  • To remain informed about industry best practice and to promote this message throughout the group.

These changes will see us working swiftly towards approval of all sites to both ISO14001 and OHSAS18001.
